If you ever encounter the situation where you can choose to be another object, think ahead. Many things are lucky enough to have a second life after death. Here I will suggest 6 good prospects for increasing your chances of a second life. I will try my best to rank these by likely hood to successfully obtain a second life, but be aware I have not done any statistics on the following:

Water - Very Likely - Water will rain down, evaporate up and rain again. Or live in a large body of water forever. I rank water as a very good prospect and should be at the top of your list as well.

Wood - Fairly Likely - Even when the forests are leveled, most wood is taken to be cut up into lumber or some other type of substance like paper. Unless a tree just rots it will be reused.

Paper - Likely - Recycling is becoming ever so popular, and we here at utawk encourage recycling. Paper is a very good candidate for recycling and you would be likely to turn into paper possibly several times. I rank this 3 since it is according to your local recycling habits and programs.

Plastic - Likely - Plastic is a great candidate for recycling, although it suffers from the same as paper for our rankings. If you’re geographical location is into recycling, this may be a great candidate.

Corn - Semi Likely - Well as you all know corn can survive in a few ways. Thats right! It is now being used to produce alternative fuel sources.

Peanuts - Semi Likely - As we all know peanuts, no matter how well they are ground up always seem to escape the digestive track and go on to live another wonderful life. This achieved the lower ranking however due to the popularity of boiled peanuts over roasted peanuts. Look for these to increase in ranking in the winter after the fresh harvests are gone!

Sure the list is apt to change and is up for debate, but I don’t see how there is much debating such a fine list of prospects. Please leave your thoughts below.

They’re everywhere, a nuisance to society. Stealing money from toilets and urinals globally. Well its time we devise a plan for catching them red handed and let justice be served.

The Problem: Coins being stolen from the bottom of toilets.

Materials Needed:

Quarter

15 feet of clear 20lbs fishing line

Super Glue

Toilet

The Solution:

After repeated occurances you will need to set a trap. Here you will need to super glue one end of they fishing line to the quarter.

Create a lasso with the sting around the base of the toilet, going UNDER the toilet seat. Spread the lasso out far enough around the toilet where it is not noticable while standing at the toilet.

Drop the quarter into the bottom of the toilet.

How It works:

As the thief approaches the toilet he will stand within the lasso. as he reaches in for the quarter and pulls it upward the fishing line will be pulled tight as it is laced through the toilet lid. As the coin is pulled harder the lasso pulls tighter sweeping his/her feet from under them and tying them to the toilet.

There we have it. The safety of man kind in the restroom has now been restored using a few everyday items and a little cleverness. Please pass this on to people who have suffered from toilet quarter thiefs(Also referred to as TQT Syndrome).

Well from time to time I like to mix it up here on the blog. Today I would like to discuss an eco friendly topic since we all want to go green these days. Everyone from time to time have plastic drink bottles lying around. Instead of throwing them away there are plenty of everyday uses for them. I’ve rounded up 28 of my favorite uses:

Soup Container - We all have left over soup but never have a way to reseal it and carry it with us in a spill proof container.(For chunky soups consider a “wide mouth” bottle)

Change Jar - This isn’t exactly original, but you can always throw your spare change into a bottle.

Telephone - Yes, when the wife is in the kitchen this is the perfect way to request a another drink

Nail Jar - Clean up the shop by storing all your nails and screws into these tough containers

Fish Bowl - Times are tough, don’t go buy a new fish bowl when there are plenty of bottles that will work equally as well(not to mention different color fish tanks)

Fishing Cork/Bobber - After you’re done with the bottle as a fish bowl, take it fishing with you and tie it to your fishing line as a cork(but don’t litter and leave it in the water when you’re done!)

Floating Key Ring - Everyone has butter fingers now and then, never lose your keys again in the river. tie a bottle to your key ring!

Foot Massager - Place a bottle under your foot and roll it back and forth.

Running Weights - Fill a bottle with sand and carry it with you while running to build your muscles

Toilet - Keep an empty bottle in your car for those long road trips to cut back on frequent stops

Ammunition - When camping fill your bottle about half full with dirt, then you can use it to hunt down your meal.

Boat Anchor - Fill a bottle with cement or sand, and keep it in your boat for an anchor

Vase - Partially fill a bottle with water and place a flower in it for a nice decorative piece.

Fly Swatter/Bat - Grab an empty bottle next time you need to get rid of a pesky rodent or fly.

Ear Muffs - Next time you don’t want to get rid of the pesky flys but the sound is bothering you, cut a bottle in half and tie one over each ear.

Fly Catcher - Great for “catch and release” fly catching. Also poke a small hole in the lid to keep them a live for a short period of time. While camping, fly caught maybe useful for #6.

Spit Cup - Keep a bottle handy if you’re a dipper/chewer and need a place to spit. Please, stop spitting tobacco juice on the sidewalk

Ash Tray - Keep a little water in the bottom of a bottle to extinguish cigarettes.

Shovel - When you’re camping and need to dig a hole(possibly for use #10) keep a bottle handy

Dog Muzzle - When you’re dog just won’t shut up, it is possible to cut a bottle in half(use the end with the hole in the end so they can breath) and tie it over his mouth. Highly NOT recommended as this could result in injury or death to you or your dog.(see use #21 and use #19)

Urn - If by some chance you need a place to keep ashes possibly from #20, this is an affordable alternative.

Pillow - If you’re ever out camping and forget your pillow a 2 liter bottle is the perfect size for a place to lay your head.

Fart Stink Bomb - Long road trips are often more fun when you can carry along a suprise. Consider one of these while packing.

Message In a Bottle - Save your bottle from the Stink Bomb (#23) incase your friends leave you on a deserted island.

Candy Dispenser - Once you’ve opened a bag of small candies pour them in a bottle so you can close them back up.

Salt Shaker - Take a small bottle with salt or peper in it camping so you can give your food a little flavor

Tamborine/Shaker - These are also easy to make with a few rocks. Great for sing alongs on long road trips.

Drink Mixer - Quite useful if you carried #27 with you on a long road trip

In no way, shape, or form do I recommend all of these techniques or uses as they could be harmful to you, the ones around you, or the environment. But when in a pinch they can definitely help out. So keep in mind these reusable ideas the next time you have an empty bottle! Anyone with any more useful reusable ideas?
